When I shared that I’d be on the Big Island of Hawaii for a little over a week, Karlie and Justin reached out right away. They had always dreamed of getting their engagement photos in Hawaii, where they first met and where their love story began.
We started their sunset engagement session at a beach locals call Queen’s Bath near Kona, Hawaii. The golden light danced across the lava rocks while the Pacific shimmered in perfect shades of blue. From there, we explored a small tide pool, searched for shells, and wandered down to the sandy beach.
As the sun dipped lower, the sky turned vibrant orange and pink—reflecting Karlie and Justin’s warmth and connection. We ended the evening back on the lava rocks, the same spot where they shared their first kiss, watching the sun set over the horizon. Just as Justin pointed out a dolphin leaping in the distance, the moment felt truly magical.
Capturing this Big Island engagement session reminded me why I love being a destination wedding and engagement photographer in Hawaii—the combination of natural beauty, golden sunsets, and heartfelt connection is unforgettable. I can’t wait to return to Kona and the Big Island to capture more love stories like theirs.
