Second Shooting in East Texas

I can't remember if it was one week or two weeks before the wedding date that Sadie from SmokinHorseMedia reached out to me. Her original second shooter fell sick and Sadie messaged me looking to find a replacement. Knowing her style, I was ecstatic to have the opportunity and thankfully I was available to help!

Melissa and Caleb's wedding was approximately three hours away, but as a second shooter, I was only needed later in the day so I didn't have to leave extremely early. When I arrived, despite the over one-hundred-degree weather, I was in love with the large open fields on the hunting grounds of the venue.

Silent Love

After meeting the groomsmen and after they chased and caught poor baby bunnies that were running around, (classic groomsmen behavior) I got to spend some time with Melissa and her mom as they were getting ready. This was one of the sweetest moments I've had the pleasure of witnessing. Melissa's mother is deaf, and through the silence of their signing to each other, though I couldn't understand their words, my heart melted. The love and excitement in the room was so evident and spoken words were not even necessary to see it.

Pure Covenant

Melissa and Caleb's faith and love for God was so admirable. Their ceremony was centered on a covenant to each other, built on a strong foundation of Biblical blessing. Everyone in the shadow of the large oak tree where the ceremony was held, pushed through the Texas heat to see the union of these two people.

Though I did not know this couple before their wedding day, their genuine love and their sweet families won me over in the short four hours I worked alongside Sadie. When I look back on 2023, it still stands to be one of the weddings that never fails to bring back emotion. The images are a true documentation of the day. I'm forever grateful for Sadie and for this couple for allowing me into their special day.
